My motherboard socket is LGA 1155 and I have a 1050ti with 8gb ram with an existing i5-3470 should I go for the i7-2600 2nd game and is there a noticeable difference?

Halbzu May 01, 2020

unlikely. the 2600 has more threads but both are so old that games are too demanding for that to matter.

I3-4360 or i5-3470 for gaming?

Hi, my current pc has i3-4360 and i have a spare i5-3470 laying around and can’t decide whether i should replace my cpu to i5-3470. I found some benchmark websites but one says my i3-4360 is better, the other one says i5-3470 is better and now i’m kinda lost. Which one would perform better while playing games? Should i replace i3-4360 to i5-3470?

Are you budget constrained to 6yr old CPUs? $250 gets you Ryzen 5 1600AF, B450 motherboard and 16GB DDR4 RAM.

SilenceBRB June 01, 2020

Well im not a super gamer, i just already have the cpu and wondered if it would be useful for me to use that one instead of i3

Finally upgrading from an i5 3470 to an AMD Ryzen 5 3600. Gaming at 1080p 144Hz

Hello all! My current setup is going to be a major bottleneck for my next GPU upgrade (end of the year probably) and I want to start getting the most out of my 1080p 144hz monitor I got last summer. Currently have it turned down to 120hz. I'll be playing games like Battlefield, F1 2020, Rocket League, Warzone.

I came up with this based on my budget I set for myself of $500-550 USD. No interest in any overclocking, going to be staying at 1080p 144hz for at least a few more years. No streaming or video editing.

I have an EVGA G2 650W PSU and a 240GB SSD I'll be reusing for some additional storage. I think I should be able to transfer my current windows key, still figuring out the easiest way. I do want RGB RAM (judge away) as my PSU cables are blue and want a little more lighting inside the case. Part availability is of course a factor and am willing to wait on better/cheaper options to come back in stock (for example I do love the NZXT 510 case a lot but it is out of stock in the all black model, and the Tomahawk is out of stock currently too). Just wanted a 2nd look if there's ways I can change a part or two or trim the cost down if possible! Thanks in advance, it's been 7 years since I build my current rig.

Is Intel Core i5-3470 ok for gaming in 2020

I have a pc that I got when I was 10 for minecraft (I am 14 now) and I want to play modern games on it .I plan to upgrade my GPU to a GTX 1650. will my cpu be able to run modern games?

ShiromoriTaketo August 06, 2020

Thats a tough one... Personally, I dont know that it wouldn't, but I'm not comfortable saying that it would... Its also an odd hardware combination...

What games are you aiming to play? and do you have a budget for your upgrade plans? ... I wonder if it's possible this forum could help you reach your goals another way if necessary...

All_theOther_kids August 06, 2020

would this work with doom eternal my goal is just 1080p 60fps. and for budget I make $8 a week for allowance so it can't be very expensive

chibicascade2 August 06, 2020

It'll run them, just not well. It should be fine for Indy and esports games, but I wouldn't expect much more out of it. You probably won't be hitting 60fps a lot of the time...

SirGeorgington August 06, 2020

It's not great, and I wouldn't recommend that anyone buy a used one today, but since you already have it, you can't really do much better for $0. Any reason for going with the 1650 over the RX 570?

All_theOther_kids August 06, 2020

I chose it because I have a small case (it is normal width though) and I found one that is not too long. which would you recommend 1650 or rx 570

Hero_The_Zero August 06, 2020

It will hurt in modern AAA titles, but I think it will be passable in a lot of titles, and run 2015/2016ish era AAA titles just fine. Of course there are exceptions, even some older games need more than a 4c4t processor to run good.

Can you tell us what your power supply is rated for and if it has any unused connections?

wildhunt1993 August 06, 2020

With a 1650, it will be matching the 3470 and the bottleneck is not much ofcourse there will be stutters here and there but it won't be like the cpu is at 100% and GPU at 70%. But with 1650 super, it's going to severely bottleneck. Just lock your fps to the minimum fps to have smooth experience.

AzraelleWormser August 06, 2020

I have an i-5 3470 that I bought something like 7 or 8 years ago, still running today. Last year I upgraded my GPU to a Radeon RX 580 and I can handle just about any game that's come out in the last two years. As others have said, it doesn't run them perfectly, and I think cutting-edge modern games might make it whimper a bit; but I can run 1440p at or near 60 fps most of the time in RDR2 without sacrificing too many graphics options.
