Rendering tests are a long-time favorite of reviewers and benchmarkers, as the code used by rendering packages is usually highly optimized to squeeze every little bit of performance out. Sometimes rendering programs end up being heavily memory dependent as well - when you have that many threads flying about with a ton of data, having low latency memory can be key to everything. Here we take a few of the usual rendering packages under Windows 10, as well as a few new interesting benchmarks.
The Ryzen 7 3800X sits between Core i9-9900KS and Ryzen 7 3700X. It is 1.7% lower than the Core i9-9900KS while being 2.4% higher than the Ryzen 7 3700X. The Ryzen 7 3800X takes a comfortable 42.4% lead over the Core i7-9700K. In this benchmark, the Ryzen 7 3800X has an impressive performance, which is way ahead of the last generation Ryzen 7 2700X by 19.2%. Again, the Ryzen 7 2700X tumbles down the chart, falling behind its Zen 2-based successor. That's a ~19.2% generational speed-up in this title. The Ryzen 7 2700X clearly shows how significantly the high-end Pinnacle Ridge-based CPUs fall behind the Zen 2 models. The Ryzen 7 3800X's performance earns it the 24th place. AMD's Ryzen 7 3800X notches a small win over the Ryzen 7 2700X, but opens up an impressive lead over the stock Core i7-9700K. Overall, the Ryzen 7 3800X is a very good performer with its 8-cores and 16-threads in this benchmark.
