The compilation benchmark is variably threaded, with a mix of DRAM requirements that benefit from faster caches. Data procured in the test is the time taken for the compile, which is converted into compiles per day. The benchmark takes anywhere from an hour on a fast single high-end desktop processor to several hours on the slowest offerings.
The Ryzen 7 2700X sits between Core i7-8700K and Ryzen 7 1800X. It is 0.1% lower than the Core i7-8700K while being 10.9% higher than the Ryzen 7 1800X. The Ryzen 7 2700X takes a comfortable 0.1% lead over the Core i7-8700K. In this benchmark, the Ryzen 7 2700X has an impressive performance, which is way ahead of the last generation Ryzen 7 1700X by 11.6%. Again, the Ryzen 7 1700X tumbles down the chart, falling behind its Zen+-based successor. That's a ~11.6% generational speed-up in this title. The Ryzen 7 1700X clearly shows how significantly the high-end Summit Ridge-based CPUs fall behind the Zen+ models. The Ryzen 7 2700X's performance earns it the 10th place. The less expensive 6-core Core i7-8700K provides far more performance in these tests, and it also sells for ~$395. That higher score is a byproduct of the Core i7-8700K's extra threads. AMD's Ryzen 7 2700X notches a small win over the Ryzen 7 1700X, but opens up an impressive lead over the stock Core i7-8700K. Overall, the Ryzen 7 2700X is a very good performer with its 8-cores and 16-threads in this benchmark.
